Shae's Story at DONUT Studios | From Inspiration to Confidence in Art

SHAE'S STORY

Shae heard about DONUT Studio’s through one of his support workers and decided to join because he liked the promotional pamphlets that showed all the exciting things he could do at DONUT Studios.

Shae says he feels very comfortable around all the Creative Facilitators, they make him feel happy and safe to be at the studio.

“When I wake up and know I have to go to DONUT Studios I feel pretty relaxed!”

Shae says he is more confident about his art making, and eventually would like to sell an art piece. Shae wants people to recognize his artwork and see it displayed in the studio.

When we asked Shae how the people at DONUT Studios help him with his art and creativity, this is what he said:

“They provide all the materials like clay and paint for me to experiment with. They are fun and a little crazy at times and they really inspire me to bring out my creative side.

I get to know people and they know how to treat me and make me feel welcome and comfortable. I get to work with different staff and love all their different personalities – so it is never boring when I attend DONUT Studios!”

Shae says the Creative Facilitators are great people, and they’re great to work with. He says everyone has their special talent the members can learn from.

Shae’s favourite moments are hanging around with his co-members and staff.

He enjoys being Mr Promoterhead at DONUT Studios and gives tours, hands out pamphlets and even joins the interviews for new Creative Facilitators.

Shae is an important member of DONUT Studios and it just wouldn't be the same without him.
